2020: Treasure Chest Contest
Introducing: Traps & Tools mini-expansion!
We are pleased to announce the winner of our Treasure Chest contest! With over almost 30 submissions, we could not be more pleased with both the quantity and quality of the entries. We had to make some hard decisions, but we are beyond thrilled with the final results! Without further ado, please join us in congratulating our super-fan, "Silverlightning"!! We’re even more excited to announce that we accepted TWO separate submissions from Silverlightning and incorporated them both into this one, amazing mini-expansion! |
The Traps & Tools mini-expansion comes with 4 additional Treasure Chest dice and introduces two distinct modules to the game (intended to be played together): The Treasure Trap and Lockpick Toolkits:
There is so much to love about these new modules. They offer a new form of “precision flicking,” which is thematically perfect. They add interesting, strategic decisions to the game, both during and after the game has ended. Most critically, they are both super easy to implement and require minimal additional setup or rules.
This mini-expansion will be made available in the near future through several channels, including an upcoming Kickstarter (look out for a separate announcement about this) and via our online store.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this contest, and congrats again to Silverlightning for a job well done!

- The Treasure Trap (left side of the image) leverages the Staircase cube previously exclusive to Solo Spelunker mode. Here, that cube counts as a trap door. When encountered, you must attempt to “swap” one of your treasures with a treasure on the trap door card in order to escape. Flick your treasure into the other – if yours remains in the target zone while the other is pushed out, the swap was successful and you may keep the new treasure! (Sound familiar? :D)
- Lockpick Toolkits (right side of the image) give you a chance to unlock Treasure Chests that are not paired with a key at the end of the game. You must flick the locked chest cube through a series of tumbler gates, in the correct order. You have a limited number of attempts, but you may purchase additional lockpicks for a price. If you succeed, you unlock the chest and may roll for points as usual!

If you love Dungeon Drop's "Treasure Dice" as much as we do, this contest is for you! We want to create a mini-expansion that incorporates more of these amazing Treasure Chest cubes in a new and unique manner. Let's get to it!
Core rules for this contest are as follows:

Additional details:
Prizes:
- Be creative: We encourage you to think outside the box here! Nearly anything is possible in this game, and we look forward to seeing some very unique and novel ideas from you all!
- Don't kill yourself: You need to come with a reasonably fleshed out idea and set of rules, but we do not expect you to deliver a professionally designed expansion. We will fully playtest, refine, and finalize all mechanics and rules. We will also provide final artwork, so don't kill yourself trying to make things look perfect.
- Naming: Feel free to offer up a clever name for the expansion, but we reserve the right to alter it as needed.
- Deadline: Entries must be submitted by June 30, 2020.
- Submissions: To submit your entry, send an email to support@phaseshiftgames.com with a subject of "Treasure Dice Contest," and then include your details and any attachments necessary in the body of the email. You may submit multiple entries to this contest. Each entry will be judged separately.
- Judging: Judging for the entries will be jointly performed by Dungeon Drop designer, Scott R. Smith, and Phase Shift Games owners.
- Announcing the winner: The winning entry will be announced roughly 1 month following submission deadline.
- Availability: This mini-expansion will be made available for purchase through our online store, and likely as an add-on during our next "drop-style" game Kickstarter campaign.
Prizes:
- The winner will receive a free copy of this expansion, as well as a complete "all-in" Deluxe level tier for Drop Drive, our next "drop-style" game coming to Kickstarter soon.
- The winner will be credited on the final rules card and on the expansion's entry on BoardGameGeek.
Good luck!
